Tom Mercer wants to ‘make oats more awesome’. To do that he launched MOMA in 2005; frustrated by the lack of healthy and convenient breakfasts for commuters in a rush.
He conceived the idea for the on-the-go pots and shakes in his previous life as a management consultant, at first handing out samples at stations across London.
Some 13 years later and MOMA is the UK’s fastest growing porridge brand – boasting sales of more than three million pots in 2017. The business has since become solely wholesale-based, selling in major supermarkets and stores across the country.
“I genuinely relish making a difference to people’s mornings,” he says, “being surrounded by a great team, and growing a successful business”.
When asked what a vibrant economy means to him, he says, “I want to see an environment where enterprise and endeavour can thrive for the benefit of everyone.”
