Skool Girl Online
The magazine that she founded in 2013 and currently edits, Skool Girl Online, connects thousands of young people every day to articles on business and enterprise, style, health and beauty, life hacks, and book and TV reviews. It also includes an ‘Editor’s Letter’ that deals with deeper topics such as the recent, ‘Does the education system set young people up to fail?’ It is Birmingham’s only teen-girl lifestyle magazine.
Talisha is a graduate of the Peter Jones Enterprise Academy – founded in 2009 to encourage more entrepreneurial activity in the UK and based on a philosophy of learning by doing. Talisha clearly took the mantra to heart: her experience includes stints in TV presentation, writing for TV and radio production.
Her entrepreneurial spirit has been widely recognised. She received the Aspire Award for the West Midlands Women of The Year Aspire Award 2015; was nominated for a Young Social Entrepreneur Award; and, as a teenager, she received a Diana Award.
She is also chairperson for Birmingham Empowerment Youth Forum and former executive producer for the annual Celebrating Youth Excellence Awards, an event that recognises the positive achievements and contributions of exceptional young people in Birmingham and the West Midlands.
Her age is nothing but a number: ultimately, Talisha wants to be a children’s television presenter who leaves behind a legacy that inspires a generation of teenage girls to be aspirational go-getters. With a burgeoning CV matched by her aspirations, she is well on her way to making that dream a reality.
