Sara Prowse leads international footwear brand Hotter, which is the UK’s largest shoe manufacturer producing over two million pairs per year.
Hotter shoes are expert shoe makers, who aim to enhance their customers lives by creating the ultimate in comfort and style, because great shoes don’t just happen. The brand is a multi-channel business selling through its 80 UK stores, direct to UK and US consumers.
“Vibrant economies thrive on disrupters. Disrupting an industry will not just lead to economic growth, but social value,” says Sara. “The best, disruptive businesses stay focused on what they do best and as such provide a platform for everyone to flourish.”
Under Sara, the business has invested significantly in its brand marketing, international development, infrastructure for future growth as well as its UK factory, where technology is used to automate parts of the manufacturing process. The Hotter factory is very much a modern blend of human craft and technology, using 11 robots on the line and 3D printing to design new moulds and uppers.
Hotter Shoes is committed to supporting the local community, partnering with the job centre to run recruitment programmes to employ local workers and is focused on helping long-term unemployed back into work. It has been instrumental in setting up and running the new national Footwear Apprenticeship programme.
Locally it supports Mid Stream, which helps people with learning difficulties; nationally it has partnered with Marie Curie pledging to raise £75,000 in 2018 and internationally it supports Soles4Souls, donating shoes across the globe.
