Sally Dicketts CBE
Sally Dicketts knows the power of education, having spent her entire career working in the sector. In 2003 she became Principal of Oxford & Cherwell Valley College. She has since led the transformation of the organisation, from a single college to a group comprising three further education colleges, four schools, an apprenticeship and training company, and an international presence in Saudi Arabia, China, Malaysia and Myanmar.
These organisations are united by a common aim – to transform lives through learning. The group employs a learning philosophy that recognises the vital relationship between the brain, emotions and motivation. “It delivers applied learning that brings the worlds of education and business together. By forging industry partnerships that embed commercial principles and activities in learning, we are helping to motivate learners and reduce the technical and soft skills gap so often decried by employers,” she says.
In 2013, Sally was awarded with a CBE for her services to further education. Activate Learning’s innovative approach has been recognised with awards from the Association of Colleges, TES and Apprenticeships 4 England.
Sally’s vision of a vibrant economy sees business playing a key role in the community. “As businesses become more global they don’t just work in society, their very existence shapes society. It is essential that businesses work with education partners if we are to successfully develop the skills required to drive regional and national economic growth.”
