Ruth Cooke is a business leader with extensive experience in the housing sector. She is the former CEO of Clarion Housing Group, the largest housing association in Europe, where she led a business committed to building 50,000 new homes.
“A vibrant economy is one which creates positive outcomes for all,” says Ruth, who has spent much of her career overseeing the delivery of affordable homes and creating places that instil pride in the community.
As Clarion CEO, she also oversaw the Group’s charitable foundation, Clarion Futures, which provides people with the support needed to overcome personal and professional challenges, “using our strength and scale we created opportunities that changed people’s lives,” she explains.
Before Clarion, Ruth worked for Midland Heart, a Birmingham based housing association. During her time there, in the face of austerity-related cuts to rental income, she led a programme to strengthen and focus the business. This led to Midland Heart delivering its best ever operational and financial results.
