CEO and Founder, Boxpark
When Boxpark Shoreditch opened in 2011 it was the world’s first pop-up street mall, bringing together global and local brands in refitted shipping containers.
A place to sell, gather and celebrate, the business provides opportunities to local businesses and community organisations. The model has been imitated in various locations across the country. In 2016 Roger opened the second official Boxpark in Croydon.
‘Eat, Drink, Play’ underscores everything Boxpark does: a mission statement that has driven business growth over the last six years. Boxpark Shoreditch is home to 46 retail outlets and Boxpark Croydon counts 35 – each with a unique combination of independent and global, fashion and lifestyle stores and cafes. Roger proudly notes how both sites have provided home businesses with low-cost, low risk opportunities to step up into a retail outlet. Boxpark Croydon recently announced a range of apprenticeship opportunities in partnership with Croydon College.
Roger Wade’s proudest achievement? “First and foremost being the father of two wonderful children, but workwise – it would have to be opening Boxpark Shoreditch, the world’s first pop-up mall!”
