Founder and Co-founder, Planet Organic and Beluga Bean
Renée Elliott is the Founder of Planet Organic, a chain of organic supermarkets across London with more than one eye on its customers, suppliers and the environment. She is also the Co-founder of Beluga Bean, a business-skills and life-skills academy offering positive, effective and powerful mentoring courses.
Renée founded her first Planet Organic supermarket in 1995, and now counts six further stores among her burgeoning business empire. She served as a Council member of The Soil Association for many years, campaigning and advising senior government officials on issues surrounding organic food and GM. She is currently serving on the Catering Mark Standards Committee, working on the independent certification of food in schools, workplaces, hospitals and restaurants across the UK.
In 2017, Renée used her business experience to launch the Beluga Bean Academy. “To live your life with energy, enthusiasm and integrity demands skills that many of us weren’t taught in school and didn’t learn at home like how to start a business, how to transition from businesswoman to mother, and how to cook delicious, nutritious food,” she explains.
Inspired by The Body Shop founder Anita Roddick, Renée’s business core is rooted in integrity, “I believe in products which offer real value, from the food at Planet Organic to courses at Beluga Bean that empower people to lead better, healthier and happier lives.”
Her final words of advice? “Trust your gut. I like to think that I am proof that you can build a successful business without compromising on values.”
