Priya Lakhani OBE
Priya Lakhani traded her barrister’s wig for a chef’s hat in 2008 when she set up sauce brand, Masala Masala. As Masala Masala grew, Priya was similarly focused on making sure it achieved charitable as well as commercial success. So, she began to provide a hot meal to a homeless person in India for every pot of sauce sold. To date, millions of meals have been served, as well as tens of thousands of vaccines provided to the underprivileged around the world.
Six years later, she traded her hat again and became the founder of CENTURY, a data analytics education technology platform.
CENTURY is revolutionising the education sector by using artificial intelligence methods, big data and data mining techniques to improve students’ learning outcomes. It provides an adaptive curriculum and personalised learning experience, which allows learners and teachers to reach their individual potential, and enables teachers to pinpoint which students need help and to identify interventions in real time. It is the first learning platform of its kind in the UK.
Priya has been well-decorated for her entrepreneurial activities, including Woman of the Year at the Asian Achievers Awards in September 2014, Business Entrepreneur of the Year and The Times’ 35 Women Under 35.
