Lord Paul Drayson

Lord Paul Drayson trained as an engineer in the car industry before studying for a PhD in robotics. He has experience of both private and public companies, having led PowderJect Pharmaceuticals over ten years from Oxford University spin-out to a FTSE 250 business and one of the world’s leading vaccine companies.
He was elected chairman of the U.K. BioIndustry Association in 2001 and was appointed to the House of Lords and a Member of the Science and Technology Committee of the House of Lords in 2004. He was then appointed Parliamentary under Secretary of State for Defence Procurement in 2005 and became Minister of State for Defence Equipment & Support in 2006 and Minister of State for Science & Innovation in 2008.
In 2015 Paul founded Drayson Technologies Ltd, a digital healthcare company, where he is currently the Chairman and CEO. Recently Paul became a member of the Board of Directors of Airbus SE. Paul is a Fellow of the Royal Academy of Engineering, a Member of Council of the University of Oxford and a non-executive director of the Board of the Royal Navy. Paul is married to Elspeth. They have five children and live in London and Gloucestershire, UK.
