Co-Founder & CEO, Accelerated Digital Ventures
Lee Strafford is a pioneer of modern technology. The Yorkshireman co-founded Plusnet in the late 90s and grew the internet provider from a team of seven to 200+, eventually selling the business to BT for £67 million.
Since the sale, Lee has dedicated his time to supporting the next generation of tech entrepreneurs – he recently co-founded venture platform Accelerated Digital Ventures (ADV) – and has even served as the chairman of Sheffield Wednesday F.C.
He has worked closely with Sheffield City Council and the two Sheffield Universities, providing expertise and industry access to help technology startups in the region achieve success. He also served as a board member of the Sheffield City Region Local Enterprise Partnership, working with a specific focus on the creative and digital industries agenda for the city region.
“I’m most proud of creating opportunities for people of all backgrounds mostly during my time at Plusnet, catalysing the turning around of fortunes of Sheffield Wednesday and being part of ADV,” he says. Elaborating on his personal achievements, he adds, “Convincing my wife to share life’s journey with me and making a minor contribution to the development of our three boys.”
