The British technology sector currently faces a critical shortage in skills. Kieran Miles, young entrepreneur and Founder of digital consultancy KakeCo, is looking to change this. His initiatives Lead Norfolk and the #DigitalCity trail, aim to create employment opportunities for local young people, as well as tackling the skills shortage in Norfolk-based digital careers.
The popularity of #DigitalCity in Norfolk has led Kieran to set up a parallel trail in Bristol. Young people in the local area are provided with a map of digital businesses, which they can follow to meet Founders and Directors. Lead Norfolk similarly aims to help increase employment prospects for young people, by supporting young leaders aged 16-35 through a year-long programme of events, mentor support, collaborative opportunities and connections with established leaders.
‘Never be afraid to ask, and ask again,’ is Kieran’s advice to his younger self.
