After studying 19th century China as a postgraduate student, Karen Knight made the less than likely transition to a career in child protection services.
NorseCare is an award-winning care home provider, managing residential homes and ‘housing with care’ schemes across Norfolk. Since qualifying as a social worker in 1985, she has undertaken a range of leadership roles that have focused on improving people’s lives through the provision of care services.
As managing director, Karen is dedicated to meeting the needs and expectations of Norfolk’s older people and championing innovation in dementia care facilities and services.
In April, NorseCare unveiled a state-of-the-art dementia specialist care home in Norwich, Bowthorpe Care Village. This project was the culmination of an enormous partnership project between Saffron Housing, the Homes and Communities Agency, Norwich City Council and Norfolk County Council.
The company strives to contribute to the communities with which it engages and operates and supports a number of charities. Over the next 15 years, it will invest in and undertake a programme of re-provision of the current care accommodation. This is part of a nationwide pledge to better meet the needs of the older population.
