Jude Ower MBE
Her company, Playmob, integrates charity campaigns into mobile games, transforming the way that charities raise money while altering the perception of the games industry.
Founded in 2011, Playmob has raised over $880,000 for charity and has worked on more than 30 campaigns around the globe for clients including WWF and Oxfam.
She has also demonstrated that including a charitable aspect to a mobile game increases its revenue, engagement and virality – for both the game and the charity. Jude describes her work as “leveraging games to do good, from in-app purchases to gaming inventory, using the massive reach and engagement of games to support good causes, and enabling a triple bottom line for games studios and brands”.
“Being purpose-driven is important for employees and customers, as we are all striving for purpose”
Awarded an MBE for services to entrepreneurship in 2015, she is proud of the dedication and hard work her team has given to starting and growing a disruptive business.
She believes that “with customers and employees, businesses can leverage networks to raise funds and awareness of causes that are critical to people and the planet”.
For Jude, social responsibility is key to a vibrant economy. “Being purpose-driven is important for employees and customers, as we are all striving for purpose.
“If we pursue purpose both online and offline, it will make a difference to our wellbeing, our attitudes to people, and to the brands we work with and buy from.”
