Geeta Nanda OBE
Housing demand continues to outstrip supply in London and much of the UK, but this doesn’t deter Geeta Nanda who, as CEO of Metropolitan, is committed to building affordable housing in the capital, the East Midlands and the east of England.
Recent achievements include the successful planning permission bid for the £1.6 billion regeneration of Clapham Park, South London, where at least 50% of 2,500 new homes will be affordable.
Meanwhile, Geeta is leading Metropolitan’s merger with Thames Valley Housing, which would create one of the country’s largest housing associations – with a combined 57,000 affordable homes and the potential for 2,000 more homes of all tenures to be delivered each year.
Speaking about the motivation behind the merger, Geeta says, “We can do a lot more working together than we can do alone. I’m a passionate advocate of collaboration and I have a desire to provide homes, services and communities which allow people to thrive.”
On her contribution to shaping a vibrant economy, she adds, “We look closely at what we can do to help those in need of housing support, we don’t abandon them. We need an environment where all people can prosper, and to do this we need creative and energetic minds taking centre stage to find innovative solutions.”
