Chief Operating Officer and Co-founder, Plimsoll Productions
Christine Owen has led the rapid growth of Plimsoll Productions alongside founder Grant Mansfield since its launch in 2013. The production company has created and produced more than 40 non-scripted TV programmes for both UK and international audiences. Amongst its portfolio are Rescue Dog to Super Dog and First Brit – the acclaimed documentary about Britain’s oldest complete skeleton.
Building a sustainable business that could help her local economy grow was Christine’s ambition from the outset: “The most important thing to me is knowing I’ve been part of a company that will exist long after I’ve gone.”
The vision has come to life over the last five years, with Plimsoll now the sixth largest independent production company in the UK, with offices in Bristol, Cardiff and Los Angeles.
Prior to launching Plimsoll, Christine worked with the BBC on programmes such as Blue Peter and Going Live!
Plimsoll is the current British Chambers of Commerce’s High Growth Business of the Year and was named in the top three of The Sunday Times’ SME Export Track 100 2018.
Christine says success is preceded by preparation, “You need the right people in place to accommodate growth. Make sure you’re set up to cope with 150 people, even if there’s only five of you.”
