Vice-Chancellor, Sheffield Hallam University
A large part of generating and sustaining a vibrant economy starts with education, and shaping the minds and motivation of the next generation. As Vice-Chancellor of Sheffield Hallam University, Chris Husbands is aiming to do just that.
Chris has served as the University’s Vice-Chancellor since January 2016. His achievements in the education sector are multiple: he was shortlisted for the Guardian higher education’s most inspiring leader; has had his work developed in fifteen books and over four hundred papers and presentations; and has advised local and national governments across four continents.
His career in education has been diverse; previously, Chris was Director of the Institute of Education, University of London, following a long career in education leadership in schools and universities.
“We are a university committed to expanding opportunity and I am proud to lead one of the country’s largest and most diverse universities,” says Chris. “We transform lives through teaching and research.”
Chris’s one piece of advice? Sleep on it. “Nothing is as bad after a good night’s sleep.”
